A summary of the latest developments in seven domestic OLED investment projects

According to IHS statistics, the equipment investment in the panel industry in 2016 is expected to reach a new high of three years, falling to $12.9 billion, and is expected to climb to $13 billion in 2017, and will not fall to $11.8 billion until 2018. IHS Markit, the market regulator, estimates that the investment in panel equipment will continue to rise in the next two years, and the land-based plant will account for 65% of the investment. In the second quarter of 2017, the total capacity is expected to surpass the Vietnamese and Korean manufacturers, becoming the world's number one. Large manufacturing base.

At present, the AMOLED production lines that have been put into production in mainland China include: BOE Erdos G5.5 generation line, Huihui Optoelectronics Shanghai G4.5 generation line, Guoxian Optoelectronics Kunshan G5.5 generation line, Tianma Shanghai G5.5 generation line, Xinli Huizhou G4 .5 generation line (lighted up, put into production soon). The two projects under construction are: BOE Chengdu G6 line, Tianma Wuhan G6 line, Huaxing Optoelectronics Wuhan G6 line, the construction of the black cattle food and Guoxian Optoelectronics together with the Gu'an G6 line, and Huiguang Shanghai G6 generation Line and the letter to the tail of the G6 line. The following is a summary of the major progress of each vendor.

1. BOE

On November 21, 2013, BOE Ordos 5.5-generation AM-OLED production line was put into production. It is China's first 5.5-generation AM-OLED production line. Globally, only Samsung has a 5.5-generation OLED production line in operation.

The BOE Ordos 5.5-generation AM-OLED production line has been publicly disclosed since 2010. Its total investment is 22 billion yuan, and the glass substrate design capacity is 54,000 pieces/month. The product positioning is mainly for small and medium-sized LTPS and AM-OLED high-end display devices.

On October 23, 2014, BOE signed an agreement with the Chengdu Municipal People's Government to invest 22 billion yuan to build a 6th generation LTPS/AMOLED production line in Chengdu (the first phase project); on February 29, 2016, the company increased its subsidiaries. In the way of Chengdu BOE, an additional investment of 24.5 billion yuan will be built to build the 6th generation AMOLED (flexible) production line (second phase project). The total investment of the project is 46.5 billion yuan, and the construction period is 27 months. It has been fully constructed in October 2015 and implemented in two phases. The design capacity finally reached 48 thousand pieces/month for the glass substrate (24 thousand pieces/month for each of the first and second phases). Glass substrate size: 1500mm & TImes; 1850mm, the project is located in Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone. A total investment of 46.5 billion yuan. It is expected to be put into production in the second quarter of 2017.

2, and Huiguang

On November 2, 2012, Shanghai Hehui Optoelectronics 4.5-generation low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) AMOLED production line was laid, specifically located in Shanghai Hehui Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. project site of Jiugong Road, Jinshan Industrial Zone, Shanghai.

The main products of Hehui Optoelectronics AMOLED production line project include: 4.5", 4.7", 5.6" small and medium size display screens and modules. The proposed scale: the array glass substrate is 15,000 pieces/month; the color film glass substrate is 0.75. 10,000 pieces / month; AMOLED filming volume of 15,000 pieces / month; annual output of AM OLED display module 10.592 million pieces.

The first product was lighted in March 2014. Mass production began in the third quarter of 2014, with an initial capacity of 15,000 pieces per month. In 2015, it increased production capacity by 6,000 pieces per month. Currently, it has reached 21,000 glass substrates per month, and the monthly production capacity of 5-inch mobile phones has exceeded 1.2 KK. It is installed in bulk on HTC, ZTE and other mobile phones and Huawei watches. Its main AMOLED products are 5.0HD, 5.5HD, 6.0HD, 5.6FHD, 8.0FHD and 6.0WQHD.

Hehui Optoelectronics Phase II project signed on September 20, 2016. The 6th generation low temperature polysilicon (LTPS) AMOLED display project will be built and strive to enter the ranks of the top three AMOLED panel suppliers. The second phase of the project has a total investment of 27.278 billion yuan and a total land area of about 687 acres. The products include 1 to 13 inches of small and medium size display screens and modules (partially flexible) with a production capacity of 30,000 pieces per month. The project is scheduled to start construction in December 2016, and the product will be successfully lit at the end of 2018.

3, Tianma

Shanghai Tianma G5.5 line was put into production in the fourth quarter of 2015, and small batch production began in the first quarter of this year. The goal is to obtain bulk supply in the first half of 2017. The production method is to complete the LTPS back sheet manufacturing on the Xiamen Tianma G5.5 generation production line, and then transport it to the Shanghai G5.5 generation first production line for evaporation, packaging and module assembly. At present, its main AMOLED products have 5.0 "HD, 5.46" HD, 5.0 "FHD, 5.5" FHD. At present, Tianma plans to increase investment and construction phase II with a capacity of 4,000 flexible OLED panels, which is scheduled to be put into production in the second half of 2017.

Wuhan Tianma invested RMB 12 billion in the first half of 2015 to invest in the construction of the sixth-generation LTPSAMOLED production line. Construction started in early 2015. In July 2016, it decided to convert some of its production capacity into flexible AMOLED production capacity. It is expected that the main plant structure will be capped in 2016. In the second quarter of 2017, the equipment was moved into production, and production began in the second half of 2017 or the first quarter of 2018. The capacity is designed to be 60,000 pieces of 1/2-cut flexible OLED glass substrate, which can form the shipping capacity of 5-6 million pieces of 5.5-inch AMOELD modules per month.

PLC Splitter

PLC, that is, planar optical waveguide, that is to say, the optical waveguide is located in a plane.
As everyone is familiar with single-layer circuit boards, all circuits are located in a plane of the substrate. Therefore, PLC is a kind of technology, it does not refer to a certain type of product, let alone a splitter! Our most common PLC splitter is made of silicon dioxide (SiO2). In fact, PLC technology involves a wide range of materials, such as glass/silicon dioxide (Quartz/Silica/SiO2), lithium niobate (LiNbO3), III-V semiconductor compounds (such as InP, GaAs, etc.), silicon-on-insulator (SOI/SIMOX), silicon oxynitride (SiON), polymer, etc.
Devices based on planar optical waveguide technology solutions include: Splitter, Star coupler, Variable Optical Attenuator (VOA), Optical switch, Optical comb ( Interleaver) and Array Waveguide Grating (AWG), etc. According to the requirements of different applications (such as response time, ambient temperature, etc.), these devices can be made by choosing different material systems and processing techniques. It is worth mentioning that these devices are all optical passive devices and are independent. They can be combined with each other or with other active devices to form high-end devices with different functions.
