Kodak OLED business sells South Korea LG to end long-term dispute

Topic: Industry Friday (5th), the well-known American company Eastman Kodak Co. announced that it will sell its ultra-thin OLED screen technology research and development business to South Korean electronics giant LG Electro nics Inc. At the same time, Kodak said it will share several patents with LG, ending the long-term dispute between the two parties.

To counter the decline in traditional film and camera business, Kodak has gradually shifted its focus to the digital development output system business. Kodak said earlier this year that it will cut back on investments in several advanced technology businesses to reduce spending. OLED screens are not as light-emitting as LED screens and do not require backlighting. Kodak said that the company's products will continue to be able to use its research and development of OLED technology. The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of the year and the transaction price is not disclosed.
