The Qing Dynasty installed the electric lamp process twists and turns - remember the Qing Dynasty from candlelight lighting to lighting...

As a conservative and backward final dynasty in the Qing Dynasty, the introduction of electric lights went through a difficult and tortuous process. In the 14th year of Emperor Guangxu (1888), Beiyang Minister Li Hongzhang dedicated power generation equipment and electric lights as tribute to Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu. The electric light should have been used for mid-uterine lighting at this time, but it was not used because of opposition from conservative forces within the court. According to the archives of the Qing government's House of Government and Mr. Jin Yi's "Meng Women's Talks", in the twenty-sixth year of Guangxu (before 1900), there were no records of electric lights in the palace, and they were illuminated by candlelight. However, this did not prevent the use of lights in the Royal Garden and the Summer Palace and Xiyuan (now Zhongnanhai). In the 14th year of Guangxu (1888), a light-lamp office was set up in Xiyuan, which was managed by the Qing dynasty guns. The annual budget of the Ministry of Housing was 60,000 yuan. All three-chamber steam generators of the Summer Palace Electric Lights were commissioned when the Cixi station was stationed. Xiyuan has a four-chamber steam generator, which is responsible for powering the lights in Xiyuan. In the twenty-sixth year of Guangxu (190), the Eight-Power Allied Forces entered Beijing, and the Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu fled to Xi'an. The two electric lights were severely damaged. The engine was destroyed and transported away. The furniture was taken out of the air. Until Cixi and Guangxu returned to Beijing, in the 28th year of Guangxu (1902), the Qing dynasty 畲褥 畲褥 畲褥 畲褥 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太 太The camp was returned to the Qingyuan Court of the Qingyuan Office of the Qing Palace [the nearest management]. From the first month of Guangxu 30 (1904) to November, Xiyuan Temple has more than 800 electric lamps. The emperor re-applied the electric light. The installation of electric lights in the Forbidden City was in 1907. At this time, Cixi had already known about the electric lights that had been used for many years in the Summer Palace and Xiyuan. In addition, Beijing’s civil electrical appliance company, Jingshi Huashang Electric Co., Ltd., was established in the 31st year of Guangxu (1905), the following year At the beginning of the month, it began to supply electricity to Beijing. The conservative forces inside the court also no longer actively oppose the use of electric lights in the palace. Cixi also wanted to install electric lights in the Ningshou Palace where she lived in the palace. Due to the rapid installation of electric lights in the early Ningshou Palace, the amount of motor used was small, and the number of lamps provided was small, which could not meet the needs of large-scale installation of electric lights in Qing Palace. Therefore, in March of the thirty-fourth year of Guangxu, Fengchenyuan was also based on the plan of Xiyuan Public Office. Use the steam engine, motor equipment, electric lights, wheeled vehicles and other materials. All the pieces that were difficult to purchase in Beijing were transferred to the South and Beiyang Ministers for October, and the new boiler motors purchased were shipped. At this time, Cixi and Guangxu successively died. All the affairs in the palace were taken over by the Empress Dowager Long Yu, and the installation of the Gongzhong Electric Light continued. In September of the first year of Xuantong, the Queen Mother Long Yu made the installation of electric lights in Changchun Palace, Jianfu Palace, Royal Garden Palace and Long Street. This comprehensive installation of electric lights was not completed until the end of Xuantong. Before the 溥?x exit, the lamps were updated, and the power used was changed from the power of the court to the public electrical appliance in the city. At this time, the Qing Dynasty completed the transition from candlelight lighting to electric lighting. The Palace Museum now also holds a number of stained glass (light) chandeliers.
