Vishay Introduces New HE3 Liquid Helium High Energy Capacitor


Vishay announces the introduction of a new liquid helium high energy capacitor with the highest capacitance in all similar devices on the market. The HE3's unique package design with SuperTan technology improves reliability and performance in high-energy applications.

Optimized for energy storage and pulsed power applications in high-reliability avionics and military equipment, Vishay's HE3 is housed in a hermetically sealed, high-pressure and harsh environment.

The design features a unique double-sealing technology that improves reliability and performance, and has a capacitance range of 3,300μF to 72,000μF, which is the highest capacitance per unit volume of all liquid tantalum capacitors.

By utilizing Vishay's proven SuperTan hybrid cathode technology and positive electrode design, HE3 represents a major breakthrough in liquid tantalum capacitor technology. At +25 ° C, 1 kHz, its ESR value is ultra low 0.035 Ω.

The new capacitors have an operating temperature range of -55°C to +85°C. At 120Hz, +25°C, the standard capacitance tolerance is ±20%, and a tolerance of ±10% is also available.

Samples and production quantities of the new HE3 liquid helium high-energy capacitors were available in June 2007, with lead times of 8 to 10 weeks for larger orders.
