Marvell's leading wireless connectivity combo chips Avastar 88W8887, 88W8997 and 88W8977 can be used to implement multi-channel, multi-room synchronized audio solutions

21ic News Marvell has announced that Avastar modular wireless solutions will be used in a variety of wireless connectivity audio products, including Soundbar, speakers, AVR and wearable audio devices. The 88W8887 and 88W8997 can be used to help device manufacturers build highly synchronized wireless audio solutions across multiple rooms and areas, enabling an optimal connected audio experience based on 802.11ac. The recently introduced 88W8977 wireless solution targets wearable and audible devices for low-power, cost-effective 802.11n solutions and Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Marvell's latest standalone NFC chip NF100 is used to transfer, pair and play in wireless audio products.
Frontier Silicon's Minuet Connected Audio Module has adopted the Avastar 88W8887, which integrates Google Cast technology for audio devices. Google’s recently launched Chromecast Audio device also features the Avastar 88W8887. This combined solution will provide microsecond synchronization accuracy to meet the demanding multi-channel HD audio streaming market. Marvell and Frontier Silicon showcase time-synchronized wireless audio streaming solutions at the 2016 CES Consumer Electronics Show.

The recently introduced Avastar 88W8977 SoC is a low-power wireless chipset that enables wearable and audible devices to achieve the lowest cost of materials and the smallest form factor. In BLE-only mode, the SoC is one of the lowest power 802.11n solutions that maintains a very low power BLE-only link for music transfer between the wearable audio device and the corresponding Soundar. The Wi-Fi connection will be activated at very low latency when the music is transmitted. In addition, Marvell's wireless audio product line includes a 2 x 2 802.11ac combination chip (88W8997) and a 1 x 1 802.11ac combination chip (88W8887).
