A few days ago, I wrote a blog post about searching for software that could allow remote desktop control within a local area network (LAN) without needing an internet connection. I was frustrated because TeamViewer wouldn’t work when there was no internet access. I did some research online, and most people just replied with a simple "No!" on Baidu.
Today, I tested it again with my colleagues, and to my surprise, TeamViewer actually worked on the LAN! Yes! Yes! Yes! It really works!
Let me show you the interface first. I’m using TeamViewer 12.

Do you see that green light in the bottom left corner? That means the device is ready to be connected via LAN. Normally, when there's no internet, the light turns red and prompts you to check your network settings. But this time, everything went smoothly.
Here’s how to fix it:
Look at the "Other" option in the image below and click on it. Then make the necessary settings.

Configure it as shown here:

In the General Settings > Network Settings > Incoming LAN Connection, select “Only accept.†The red light immediately turned green. Now, you can remotely control any computer on the same network segment by using its IP address.
It took me a while to figure this out, but after trying different settings and checking online resources, I finally found the solution. I remember searching for hours on Baidu, asking the same question over and over again—hoping someone had the answer. Now I’ve got it, and I’m excited to share it with others who might be facing the same issue.
If you're also struggling with TeamViewer on a LAN, give this a try. It might just save you some time and frustration.
