Kazuhiro Tsuga, CEO of Panasonic, finally revealed the real cause behind Tesla's failure to meet its Model 3 production targets in Q3. According to reports, Jin Heyi, a representative from Panasonic, stated that the delay in the Tesla Super Battery Factory's production line significantly impacted the overall capacity of the Model 3. Some components of the current Model 3 batteries still require manual assembly by workers, which slows down the process.
Panasonic is a key partner for Tesla, assisting in the production and assembly of battery components at the Nevada Gigafactory located in Sparks. Jin Heyi mentioned that the battery production issues would be resolved quickly, leading to a sharp increase in Model 3 output. However, he did not provide specific details on the current production progress.
Tesla is set to release its latest quarterly earnings report this week, but the company representative has not yet commented on the situation. In August, Elon Musk had announced that Tesla aimed to produce 1,500 Model 3s in September, with a target of reaching 20,000 units per month by December. Unfortunately, the actual number produced in Q3 was only 260 units.
