Tesla Model 3 capacity bottleneck was confirmed, the culprit is it

Tesla's Model 3 has faced significant delivery delays, a problem that has become widely known. The official Tesla statement attributed the issue to a "capacity bottleneck," but the exact cause was not disclosed at the time. Later, it was confirmed that the primary reason stemmed from the battery production process. Kazuhiro Tsuga, CEO of Panasonic, finally revealed the real reason behind Tesla's failure to meet its Model 3 production targets in the third quarter. According to reports, the main issue was related to the battery manufacturing line at Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada. A recent image shared by the source showed the capacity bottleneck issue, with the culprit clearly linked to the battery production system. The image highlighted the challenges Tesla faced in scaling up its production capabilities for the Model 3. Jin Heyi, a representative from the company, mentioned during a financial conference that the timeline for the full operation of the Tesla Super Battery Factory had been delayed, which directly impacted the production capacity of the Model 3. It was also reported that some of the current battery components still require manual assembly by workers, slowing down the overall process. Panasonic has been a key partner in supplying and assembling battery components for Tesla at the Nevada Gigafactory. Jin Heyi added that the battery production issues would be resolved quickly, leading to a significant increase in Model 3 output. However, he did not provide specific details about the current production progress. Tesla is set to release its latest quarterly earnings report this Wednesday, but the company’s representatives have chosen not to comment on the matter. Earlier, in August, Elon Musk stated that Tesla aimed to produce 1,500 Model 3 vehicles in September, with a target of reaching 20,000 units per month by December. In reality, the company only managed to produce 260 Model 3s in the third quarter, far below expectations. Initially, Tesla only mentioned a general "capacity bottleneck" without explaining the reasons. Now, Jin Heyi has confirmed that the main issue was the limited capacity of the super battery factory. The Model 3 is Tesla’s mass-market electric vehicle, starting at $35,000. As of August, the number of pre-orders for the Model 3 exceeded 455,000, and many customers are facing long waiting times—some over a year—to receive their cars. This delay has caused frustration among buyers and raised concerns about Tesla's ability to meet demand.
