In today’s market, the most common screen technologies are LCD and OLED. Among these, OLED has gained significant popularity due to its wide color gamut, near-infinite contrast ratio, ultra-fast response time, flexibility, and energy efficiency. As demand for OLED screens continues to rise, major manufacturers like LG Display (LGD) are accelerating the phase-out of LCD panels, shifting their focus entirely to OLED technology. As Korean manufacturers reduce their LCD output, Taiwanese panel makers such as AUO, Innolux, Caijing, and Huaying may benefit from the growing demand for smaller LCD panels. These companies have the chance to collaborate with more manufacturers and enhance their brand presence. Staying competitive requires keeping up with the latest technological advancements. In the short term, LCD panels are expected to remain relevant, especially in markets like automotive, industrial, and medical displays. Although OLED is gaining ground, LCD technology is continuously improving, offering features like wide color gamut, stable performance, and low power consumption. With a lifespan of at least 5-10 years, LCDs will continue to play a role in the market, particularly in large TVs. Looking ahead, the display technology industry is set for a major transformation over the next five to ten years. However, the success of any technology depends on supporting content and applications. Despite the rise of OLED, LCD is not going away anytime soon. Industry reports suggest that while OLED is gaining traction, LCD still maintains a strong market presence. The Taiwan Industrial Research Institute predicts a modest growth rate of -1.7% to 1.0% for the panel industry, with overall stability. Positive factors include a stable economy and increased consumer demand. To stay competitive, panel manufacturers are advised to focus on niche or high-end products like public displays, automotive panels, and e-sports displays.
