Among them, Japan, Europe and the United States represented by Nichia Chemical, Toyota Synthetic, Cree, Osram, and Lamirde (Philips) as the first camp, with core technology and strong patent strength, in general lighting and automotive lighting, etc. The market has been working for many years.

Taiwanese companies have huge capacity for chip manufacturing and packaging. Korean companies have become a late-stage show of the semiconductor lighting industry with a large enterprise strategy and a vertically integrated consumer electronics complete industrial chain, which is growing at a high speed.

Finally, it is a Chinese mainland enterprise. The scale of China's LED industry is expanding rapidly. By the end of 2010, there were more than 5,000 semiconductor lighting companies in China, including about 1,000 large-scale enterprises and more than 20 listed companies. The annual output value of the whole industry is 120 billion yuan, and the output of LED lighting application products accounts for more than 60% of the world's total, and the output value exceeds 19 billion yuan.

Fan Bing pointed out that in all patents of Chinese patents, the packaging and application fields accounted for 42%, the application accounted for 41%, the drive accounted for 9%, the extension accounted for 3%, the white light 2%, and the chip 2%. The bottom is 1%.

China has become a global manufacturing base for LED functional lighting and landscape lighting products. However, the scale of LED enterprises in China is generally small, and the phenomenon of low-level repeated construction is more serious. The core patent technology still needs to be broken, and the construction of standards, testing and certification systems remains to be determined. Strengthened, the service support system has not been perfected.

Fan Bing said that there are currently 9 major patent holders in the LED field who are Japanese companies, and only one is Samsung in South Korea. Japan has an absolute advantage in the field of semiconductor lighting.

Fan Bing pointed out that among the top ten patentee companies, the industry-recognized key companies that master LED core chip manufacturing technology include only two, namely Toyota Synthetic and Nichia, and the top three Panasonic and Sharp. And Samsung are important manufacturers of electronic and display products.

Under normal circumstances, the company will first apply for new technology in the country. Since the giants in the semiconductor lighting industry are mostly Japanese companies, the number of patent applications in the field of semiconductor lighting in Japan is far ahead.

Fan Bing pointed out that world-class companies such as Nichia, Osram, and Toyoda Gosei have strengthened their mutual understanding through the mutual authorization of patents and other means in order to achieve long-term leadership and improve market control. Cooperation, in order to monopolize high-end technology and market, in order to obtain high profits before the semiconductor lighting market matures. At the same time, the rapid development of technology has forced these companies to abandon their own development ideas and turn to multilateral technical cooperation.

Since the 1960s, LED-related patents have appeared in the world. In the late 1970s, semiconductor lighting patents broke through 100 pieces and began to grow steadily. Since 2000, the number of patent applications has increased rapidly.

Fan Bing believes that the possible increase in patents is due to the sharp growth of the global high-power LED market in 2002, setting a historical record. The main driving force is the GaN-based white LED for mobile phone backlights. The reason is that Robert Steele, head of the optoelectronics division of the US research firm Strategies Unlimited, announced in February 2003 at the LED technology society "Strategies in Light 2003" that the sales of high-power LEDs increased by 50% in 2002 compared with the previous year. The record of 1.8 billion US dollars increased by 55% year-on-year.
