What is dvb-h

DVB-H is a transmission standard formulated to provide multimedia services to handheld terminals through terrestrial digital broadcasting networks
The DVB-H system relies on the DVB-T transmission system, by adding certain additional functions and improved technology so that the handheld terminal can stably receive broadcast TV signals
DVB-H can ensure that mobile terminals receive digital TV programs under the mobile environment and micro power consumption conditions, thus well cooperate with the application of 3G network

Digital TV terrestrial broadcasting standard DVB-T was released in 1997. The original intention of the standard was not geared towards mobile reception. However, the trial operation in Singapore and Germany proved that DVB-T performed very well in a mobile environment with high bit rate transmission (see Figure 1). However, due to the relatively large power consumption, it is not suitable for battery-powered mobile terminals to receive digital TV programs through terrestrial digital TV broadcast networks. For this reason, it is necessary to introduce new technologies on the basis of DVB-T and form a new transmission standard suitable for mobile terminals to receive terrestrial broadcast digital TV programs.

The DVB-H (early DVB-X) standard that began research around 2002 is called handheld digital video broadcasting. It is the DVB (European Digital Television Broadcasting Standardization Group, established in 1993 and composed of more than 300 companies from 35 countries) The transmission standards established by the organization to provide multimedia services to portable / handheld terminals via terrestrial digital broadcasting networks. The DVB-H standard is considered to be an extended application of the DVB-T standard. However, compared with DVB-T, DVB-H terminals have lower power consumption and superior mobile reception and anti-interference performance. Therefore, the standard is suitable for small portable devices such as mobile phones and handheld computers to receive through terrestrial digital TV broadcast networks. Digital TV signals without occupying precious frequency band resources in mobile communication networks. In fact, the DVB-H standard is based on the current DVB-T transmission system, by adding certain additional functions and improved technology to enable mobile devices such as mobile phones to receive broadcast and television signals stably.
