Valve does not have open source Lighthouse, which is jointly decided by HTC.

This morning, Valve made a big news and said that it wants to open the Lighthouse tracking system. Is Valve going apart with HTC? At 17:00 this afternoon, immersiveness interviewed Wang Congqing, general manager of China. He responded to this news event:

1. Valve just opens Lighthouse tracking system instead of open source; this is equivalent to opening an interface, third-party hardware vendors can connect their hardware to HTC Vive (a bit like MFi, Apple certification), so third-party Helmets cannot use the Lighthouse tracking system .

2. The future tracking system of Lighthouse (including the lighthouse) may be open source, but it is not yet clear.

3. Obtain HTC authorization to produce third-party accessories. Authorization is free, but it must meet the standards set by Valve and HTC.

4. HTC will also open a course in Asia to train developers who develop third-party hardware for Vive. The content is the same as the training in Seattle, USA, but it is completely free .

5. The ability to participate in the HTC training course needs to be screened. This course is in sync with the U.S. courses but does not belong to the same plan.
