Recently, BOE announced its projected net profit for the first three quarters of this year, ranging between 6.2 billion and 6.5 billion yuan. Specifically, the third quarter earnings are expected to be between 1.897 billion and 2.197 billion yuan. This marks the fifth consecutive quarter of growth for the company. Since the recovery in LCD panel prices in mid-2016, BOE has seen a steady improvement in performance, with consistent growth since the third quarter of that year.
BOE's AMOLED screen is set to be produced ahead of schedule
BOE stated that the introduction speed and shipment ratio of high-value products have significantly increased. For example, the company’s first full-screen display for smartphones entered mass production in July and has now successfully developed five different full-screen designs, which are being adopted by major brands such as Huawei, vivo, and OPPO. Additionally, the sixth-generation flexible AMOLED production line in Chengdu is progressing smoothly, with volume production expected to start earlier than planned. This is expected to help maintain the company’s profitability at a relatively high level throughout the year.
Flexible OLED panels, initially used in smartphones, are now expanding into various consumer electronics. These panels are known for their thinness, flexibility, excellent durability, and energy efficiency. As technology advances, their application areas are expected to grow even further. Industry experts predict that the flexible smartphone panel market will reach 1 billion units by 2022, with an annual compound growth rate of as high as 45%.
BOE Flexible AMOLED Screen
BOE operates China's first sixth-generation flexible AMOLED production line, and the Chengdu facility is scheduled to officially launch in October. The products being shipped are high-end displays aimed at the premium smartphone market. Meanwhile, construction has also begun on the sixth-generation flexible AMOLED line in Mianyang. As these two lines come online, BOE will be well-positioned to supply high-quality flexible AMOLED screens to global smartphone manufacturers.
