It's been a while since I last shared something with you all, and I feel bad for the brothers here. Due to my busy work schedule, I just want to say: "Uncle, understand!" The show will always support the forum, love it, and miss all of you! A quote from Feng Gong: "I miss you so much!" 😢😢😢 Alright, let's get into the gossip. Today, I'll share a strange fault that happened during the National Day holiday while repairing a Skyworth TV for a friend: Model: Skyworth 34T86HT Symptoms: 1. Sometimes the screen goes black (but sound is normal) 2. Remote control doesn't work (remote is fine, but the TV doesn't respond) My thoughts on the repair: First, I focused on the black screen issue. According to the symptoms, I checked the ABL circuit first. When the TV was turned on, the filament was bright, the SCREEN voltage was normal, and the RGB output voltages were close to expected. No abnormalities in the ABL circuit were found, so I suspected a soldering issue. After re-soldering, the fault still existed, but all operating voltages remained normal. Then I increased the acceleration board voltage, and the screen turned white with cross lines, which suggested a loss of brightness signal. That led me to suspect the digital board. But at that moment, I wasn’t sure, so I moved on to the next step — fixing the remote control issue. Skyworth’s IR receiver is known to be sensitive. Everyone knows that, so I replaced it first. But even after replacing, the TV didn’t respond to any remote command. I checked the signal output from the receiver, and when I pressed the buttons, the signal was being received. So the problem wasn’t with the remote or the receiver. Could it be the CPU? Based on my experience, there could be three possibilities: 1. +5V or +3.3V power supply is abnormal 2. An error command is being sent from a related signal source 3. The CPU itself is faulty (no fix available) I checked the +5V supply and found it stable, ruling out a power issue. Next, I thought about whether the panel buttons might be sending an error command. The panel buttons are on a small PCB, so I unplugged it. To my surprise, the TV responded immediately to the remote control! Oh my god! Those tiny buttons almost ruined my reputation! 😂😂 At this point, the friend’s wife had snacks ready. We grabbed some beer, chatted, and laughed like we were back in the old days. We were all red-faced, laughing so hard we forgot who we were. 😄😄 Before I knew it, more than two hours had passed. The TV was working perfectly again. With my mind still sharp, I replaced all the panel buttons. After installing and testing, everything was back to normal — no more black screens! The clock on the wall showed it was already past 2 AM. The friend ordered his wife to go down and buy more beer. After a long night of chatting and drinking, we cleaned up and said our goodbyes. I was definitely scared to go home and face my wife! Show tip: Some of the faults in Skyworth TVs can be really weird! In this case, a leaking button caused not only remote issues but also sent an error command to the CPU, messing up the brightness control and causing the black screen. So, if you're facing strange faults and the circuit seems fine, don’t forget to check those little panel buttons! Thanks for reading! The show will never let you down.
