It's been a while since I last shared something with you, and I feel really bad about it. Due to my busy schedule, I just want to say: "Uncle, understand!" The show will always support the forum, love our community, and miss all of you! Let me quote a famous line: "I want to die for you!" 😂😂😂
Alright, let’s get into some real talk. During the National Day holiday, I had a chance to repair a Skyworth TV with a strange issue. Here's what happened:
**Model:** Skyworth 34T86HT
**Symptoms:**
- Sometimes the screen goes black (but sound is normal)
- Remote control doesn't work (even though the remote itself is fine)
**Troubleshooting Process:**
First, I focused on the black screen issue. I checked the ABL circuit. When the TV was on and the screen was black, the filament was bright, the SCREEN voltage was normal, and the RGB output voltages were close to expected values. So, I thought it might be a soldering issue. I re-soldered the relevant parts, but the problem remained. However, all operating voltages were still normal.
Then I increased the acceleration board voltage, which made the screen turn white with cross lines. That suggested a loss of brightness signal, pointing towards a problem with the digital board. But I wasn’t sure yet, so I moved on to the next step: checking the remote control.
Skyworth remotes are known to have issues, so I first replaced the receiver head. But even after that, the TV didn’t respond to any remote commands. I checked the signal output from the receiver and saw that it was working—when I pressed buttons, the signal was being received, but the TV didn’t react. Could it be the CPU?
Based on experience, there could be several reasons for this: abnormal +5V or 3.3V power, an error in the signal source, or a faulty CPU itself. I tested the power supply and found +5V was stable, so that wasn’t the issue. Could the panel buttons be causing the problem? They’re small and often prone to leakage.
I decided to unplug the small panel button board. As soon as I did, the TV responded immediately to the remote control! Oh my god! Those tiny buttons almost ruined my day! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
At that moment, my friend’s wife brought snacks and beer. We started chatting, laughing, and having a great time. It felt like we were back in the old days, chasing dragons and taming tigers. Haha, everyone was red-faced and feeling pretty good! 😄😄😄
Before I knew it, more than two hours had passed. The TV was working perfectly again. I replaced the panel buttons and tested everything once more—everything was back to normal, no more black screen. The clock on the wall said it was already past 2 AM. My friend ordered his wife to go downstairs for more beer, and we finished up the night with a few drinks, cleaning up and saying goodbye.
I was definitely nervous going home, afraid of what my wife would say if she found out I stayed out so late! 😅
**Tech Tip:** Some Skyworth HD TV failures can be really strange. In this case, a leaking panel button caused the remote to send an error command, messing up the CPU's brightness control and leading to the black screen. So, if you're dealing with odd issues and everything seems normal, don’t forget to check those little buttons—they can be the real culprit!
